SUPER-SIZE THIS!
Two weeks ago, good Ndorfinites, I bombed the legendary SlickRock Trail in Moab, Utah ... There, I’ve said it, and damned be the consequences! I know you’re all drooling and cussing and rabid with envy, and I will totally understand if you wanna whup my skinny ass the next time we touch base. But I just had to get that one out of my system ...

The thing that struck me most about the US of A was their whole super-size me mentality. (My mate Mielie had piled on a few kays due to this, and insisted on shouting ‘Come on, you fat bastard!’ at himself on every uphill). The REI stores were so humongous that I lost my way somewhere near the ‘Endurance Lingerie’ department, and spent three days surviving on Cliff Bars before a kind gentleman from security finally escorted me to the exit.

On the positive side, I was surrounded by familiar brands such as Columbia and The North Face, and established a comfortable Base Camp at the foot of the 3-storey, indoor climbing wall. On a brand note - the super hip FOX brand will be arriving at SELECTED DUESOUTH stores on the 12th March!
PLAY DATE OF THE MONTH
According to my personal adventure consultant, this winter will see a return to the cuddly physique ... NOT! Just thought I’d borrow a concept from Borat’s movie there, but it may be best if we move on to this month’s What’s On in the weekends ahead.

Spec-Savers Ironman SA 2007 (EC) Quantum Adventures Sprint #3 (WC) aQuelle Cordwalles Mudman  (KZN)

Crute’s promised not to howl for his mum before Day Three, and will post blow-by-blow images of his bottom falling apart as the race progresses. Sensitive viewers beware!

AYE AYE CATION

Yup, we’re at it again! Our Caption Competition went down a treat in 2006, and we’re ready to once again unleash images of general hilarity upon the adventure community at large. Best of all, those revered Gear Gods at Duesouth have again come to the party, this time with a Fox hamper including Messenger Bag, Cap, T-shirt and Hoodie to the value of R1,000.

Yeah baby! All you guys have to do is caption the attached image, but try and be original. Think Gary Larson, think Groucho Marx, think George Costanza, and once again wow us with your witticisms. We’re waiting with baited breath, muchachos.

AND THE WINNER IS

Remember Ndorfin Day? Well we agreed to give away a NORTH FACE sleeping bag on the day... Well the lucky sucker is:
GARY HAYNES

HOUSEKEEPING AT NDORFIN

Okay, we’re more than 3 months into the new year, so there’s no point in trying to sell a 2007 calendar at full price. Here’s your chance – email Maureen at calendar2007@ndorfin.co.za and you can get the one and only Adventure Calendar 2007 for a Thrifty Fifty bucks. This works out to less than 5 bucks a month, so get on it.

Moving on. One day we were out in the bush and arguing about what events were on the next weekend, and Crute came up with his one bright idea for the year. NDORFIN on your cell phone, bru!!! WAP it, GPRS it, EDGE it, or whatever, but check out www.ndorfin.co.za/mobile right away. Now your favourite events calendar is only as far away as your phone!

Housekeeping stuff … if you guys do come across any events loaded on the wrong date or with incorrect information, please email us at events@ndorfin.co.za. Keeping this web site up to date is like trying to track the movements of Playgirl Bunnies in Hugh Heffner’s bedroom, but obviously a bit more, ermmm, boring.
